而且已经有多部作品的单机游戏系列，大多都如电影般讲述了一个剧情波澜起伏的精彩故事，并且让玩家将自己融入到故事中，去闯荡属于自己的另一个世界，打造自己的史诗与传奇经历。
单机游戏的好处还在于较不易上瘾，不会牵扯太多的时间与精力，更注重休闲娱乐性、模拟真实性的体验。
通常单机游戏被指为“第九艺术”，也就是声音和画面的结合，游戏的原画会更加偏重于艺术成分，如一些AAA级别大作会请来专业的演员为游戏表演，通过动作捕捉系统而把演员的表演融入到游戏中，还会有些文学大师为游戏编写剧本，而请一些获得过大奖的音乐艺术家来为游戏配乐也是司空见惯。
而且单机游戏在剧本上比较注重于内涵和人文表达，往往剧情赋予了游戏更深刻的含义，游戏传达给玩家的理念通常是积极向上的。
